Case Study: Temporary Cooling Water Supply for a Regional Distribution Centre in Bedfordshire

The Challenge

A regional distribution depot in Bedfordshire experienced increased water demand during the summer months due to cooling requirements. Maintaining correct temperatures was critical to protect valuable food stocks prior to delivery to shops and supermarkets.

The existing site infrastructure could not consistently meet peak cooling demand, putting stock quality and compliance at risk. A temporary water solution was required to provide additional capacity throughout the warmer period.

Our Solution

Temporary Water Solutions (TWS) installed two 50,000-litre WRAS-approved water pillow tanks on site to provide high-volume water storage. These tanks were replenished daily using TWS stainless steel water tankers, ensuring consistent availability.

A three-phase Ebara electric pump was installed to deliver the required flow rates. Working closely with the client’s in-house maintenance team, TWS operatives connected the temporary system into the site’s existing break tank, which fed the main on-site pump set.

This configuration allowed water from the temporary storage system to integrate seamlessly into the site’s internal water network.

The Result

The distribution centre maintained stable cooling performance throughout the summer period, protecting food stock quality and ensuring uninterrupted supply to retailers. The temporary system provided reliable additional capacity without disruption to site operations, demonstrating TWS’s capability to support high-demand logistics environments across Bedfordshire.
