Case Study: Short-Notice Temporary Water Supply for a Small Infrastructure Compound in Buckinghamshire
The Challenge
A small infrastructure site in Buckinghamshire was set up at short notice. The client initially expected to connect to an existing temporary water supply serving a neighbouring area. However, it became clear that pipework could not be extended safely or practically from the existing site to the new compound.
With no viable water connection available, the site required an immediate temporary solution to support welfare and working activities. The works were scheduled during the summer months, when high temperatures increased the need for accessible drinking water for site operatives.
Our Solution
Temporary Water Solutions (TWS) was contacted to design and install a rapid, self-contained temporary water system.
We installed three 2,000-litre WRAS-approved water storage tanks. One tank was positioned close to the main working area and fitted with gravity-fed taps, allowing operatives to easily refill water bottles throughout the day.
The remaining two tanks were installed to supply different areas of the compound, supporting welfare facilities and site operations. All tanks were replenished every 48 hours using TWS water tankers, in line with Regulation 6 of the Water Supply (Water Quality) Regulations.
The Result
The temporary system provided reliable, quality-assured water for the duration of the works. The site remained fully operational during a period of high temperatures, with easy access to drinking water for site personnel.
The installation remained in place for four weeks, matching the short-term nature of the project, before being safely removed once the temporary compound was decommissioned. This project highlights TWS’s ability to respond quickly and deliver compliant water solutions for short-notice and short-duration sites in Buckinghamshire.
