Case Study: Planned Temporary Water Supply for a Biotech Facility in Cambridge
The Challenge
A biotechnology company based in Cambridge required a planned shutdown of its mains water supply to allow construction work to take place on site. Due to the nature of the facility, maintaining a continuous supply of wholesome water was essential to support operations and building services throughout the outage.
The temporary system needed to integrate seamlessly with the existing infrastructure while maintaining consistent pressure and water quality.
Our Solution
Temporary Water Solutions (TWS) designed and installed a temporary water supply system consisting of three 10,000-litre WRAS-approved Enduramaxx static water tanks. These tanks were replenished every 48 hours using TWS stainless steel water tankers to maintain a continuous supply.
A single-phase Grundfos on-demand water pump was installed to provide stable pressure across the site. Working closely with the on-site facilities management team, TWS connected the temporary system directly to the float valve control of the site’s existing water tank.
This configuration ensured a seamless transition between the incoming mains supply and the quality-assured temporary water system, with no disruption to site operations.
